Given the effort it takes to smooth these out (I might suggest some kind of powertool like a Dremel with a good buffing attachment), maybe resin molding would still be cheaper for mass production. Resin molding is by no means cheap, but the Transformers fandom has been going strong with fan created works, using that technique. Though Resin molding requires a much higher volume to get your money back for the mold making materials. I'd suggest using kickstarter to take preorders and doing them in batches.

Have you guys thought of using sand paper and sanding them down to where they look smooth?

I'm starting to think everyone who asks this is trolling us. o__o Of course we've thought of it. I quite literally spent eight hours sanding her. The plastic is retardedly strong.

I'm not trolling you dear. Well, currently I am trolling rabid Knockout haters on tumblr, but no, I don't troll here on deviantART.

Oh you have?

Yeah, 3D prints are highly resistant to...everything. D: They require a huge amount of filing and sanding to get even this far.

(And you just had bad timing is all, lol. I just got done having a conversation about this same thing with someone else. And then on some other website, people kept suggesting dumb solutions despite not knowing how 3D prints work. :P)

50 bucks for a >5 inch effigy of Pinkie Pie?

No offense, but i can wait until the unlicensed plush ponies hit the local flea market

1. 5 Inches is pretty large for a custom figure
2. This is all hand made;
made on a 3d program,
then created in a 3d printer,
then sanded for who knows how long,
then hand painted.

For all of the intense hard work that goes into this, I'd say this is still pretty cheap.

Who was ridiculing? Did i emote ridiculing when i commented about the price being out of my range? Or was it all the venom i wrote because i dont have the expendable income to buy custom made ponies?

Your silly in the head and you need stop making up things just cause you dont agree with others opinions or legit reasons for purchasing

Nah, it's just that color printing isn't really...possible. At least, not with our machine (maybe with a super high-end machine, but even then...)

She would take about a month to make. Regular progress shots would get posted here, so you could know how she was coming along. That picture you gave me would work fine. Also, would you want her wings out, or folded?(folded wings are much easier, and much less fragile.) If you want to buy her, just send payment to rugia_ryuu@hotmail.com and I'll add ya to the list! :)
