Hey there!
You all can call me Nyasu!
My partner is
RabidPeep and we print ponies.
~ FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ~What program do you use for your 3D modeling?I use 3ds Max for everything. Most of my earlier models were intended for video game use, so Max was a natural choice. You can download it from the Autodesk website if you're a student.
Can I download your models for Gmod / Source Filmmaker / my own printing? You cannot. These models are made for our personal 3D printing commissions. They put food on the table. :P
What kind of printer do you have? How much was it?We use a Reprap Prusa Mendel. My partner Rabid bought it for around $800, assembled it from scratch, and does all the maintenance for it. Have any more questions about the process of running a printer or making models for printing? Feel free to throw one of us a message!
What made you guys decide to take up 3D printing?Owning a 3D printer had been a long-held dream of Rabid's, and last summer it finally became possible. I heard about it and wanted in because it sounded cool as hell and was a good opportunity to build up my 3D modeling portfolio. Our skill sets and work styles are perfectly suited to collaborating on a project like this, as he has the technical expertise, I have the artistic expertise, and we're both decently knowledgeable in the other's field so it's easy to communicate. Neither of us could pull this off without the other.
Do you sell 3D prints of non-pony things? We definitely intend to eventually. The problem is that they
will take longer than ponies by virtue of not having a uniform body shape. Pokémon and anthros are top of the to-do list. Video game characters are an interesting case because there's a possibility that we could simply print the already-existing in-game model if it's available online. Feel free to ask.
Do you guys do trades? Not at this time, sorry. But if you're a plushie maker we might be forced to reconsider.
Why hasn't my commission been printed yet?Ask Rabid. @_@ He runs the printer and has control over everything on that end of the process so whenever anyone asks me this all I can do is stand there feeling kind of embarrassed.
How do I commission a running pony animation?Sorry, but I don't do animated commissions anymore. Unless you're one of the handful of people still on the waitlist of old, but if you are, chances you wouldn't be asking this.
Are you ever going to finish that Locking up the Sun animation?I'm amazed that people still want to see this completed. The answer is yes, and I'll probably work on it as soon as we get the commission list under control.
